Blogging For Business

As I mentioned on my previous post Blogging For Business there is a lot of valuable information I’ll be sharing about blogging in this and future posts. My first post covered the reason why you should be blogging for business and the importance of keyword research as a way to get more traffic, leading ultimately to more sales. In this post I’ll touch on the need to publish your blog posts on a regular basis and also how to make your blogsite look more interesting.
Blogging for Business – How Often?
When you are blogging for business you should plan to make this a regular activity ideally every day if you can. Google loves when fresh content is added to your blog and as as result you’ll find this will improve your rankings in the search engines. Not only will Google love you but so will your site visitors. Each time they come back there is something new for them to read. This will encourage your visitors to return again and again to your blog as you keep adding new posts on your site – assuming they like what they read of course!
Blogging for Business – Be Relevant

As I’ve said before, when you are blogging for business you’ll want to ensure that your content is relevant to the market you are trying to reach. To keep their interest, you’ll be offering them tips, advice and solutions to the types of problems your target market typically encounter. If you don’t already know exactly what these issues are you can get involved in relevant forums online and see what questions people are asking.
If you already have a list of subscribers that you email, you could send them a short survey to find out what they would like to learn more about. You may be surprised by the responses so don’t always assume you know what your target market are really looking for – ask them. When you are blogging for business you need to be relevant or your visitors will lose interest and soon find a competitors site that serves their needs better.
Blogging for Business – How Does Your Site Look?
What impression does your visitor get when they land on your website? Is it clear what you are selling or offering? Is it easy for a first time customer to order or contact you – if not you could easily be losing out on sales or enquiries. Is your site visually attractive to cause your visitors to want to spend more time on your site? Or is it cluttered, confusing and maybe too many flashing ads that annoy or distract your visitor? It is worth asking some friends and anybody you know in business to give their feedback and comments.
If you are interested in looking more closely at the colors you use or would like to use on your website, you may find a previous blog post on How Important Is Color Branding In Your Business helpful. When blogging for business it is not just about the content, color and layout are important too.
It might be you want to use a simple questionnaire to send out so you get comments on a range of things as well as leaving a section open for any other comments they have about their experience looking at or working through your site. SurveyMonkey.com is a popular online service you could use to collect such information.

Blogging for Business – Making an Impact!
In my next blogging for business post in this series I’ll be sharing ideas to make your content have the maximum impact with your readers. This is so important as you might be offering great content but if it is not presented well you will lose readers as people typically have a very short attention span when they are looking at information online. So I’ll share some great tips to grab your readers attention and get them to enjoy their reading experience on your blog!

Blogging For Business

Lynn,
Thanks for the good advice here. I particularly made note of the importance of keyword research in order to drive more traffic to the blog posts/website. As this is the lifeblood of any online business.
Also, I take on-board your comments around site presentation and recommendations to blog often. I can see that the key is to make it a routine and so habitually offer readers fresh content and value.
Dylan Cooper.
Hey Dylan – yes, traffic is the life blood of your business but it is critical to focus on the right traffic for your site so they will be interested in what you are offering.
When you set out to blog it is important to decide how often you will do this and setup a schedule for days you want to publish a post. Its so much easier to make it happen when you have set yourself a target for doing this. It also gets easier the more you do so well worth persevering if it all seems a lot at the beginning.
Thanks for your comments,
Lynn
